I. Castillo Designs is more than a interior design firm - we're creators of transformative living experiences.

Since 1998, we've built a legacy of innovative holistic designs, expanding from our roots in South Florida

to serving distinguished clients across the Northeast Florida coast.​

Drawing inspiration from biophilic design principles and the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, we create spaces that inspire well-being, harmony, balance, and flow. Meet Our Founder

Founder and Principal Designer

Iris Castillo

Founder & Principal Designer 

Born in Nicaragua and raised in South Florida, Iris studied Interior Design at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale with a concurrent immersion in architectural studies, lending rigorous spatial and structural mastery to her 26+ years leading high-level design and remodeling projects.

Drawing inspiration from Biophilic and Holistic Design principles and the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, she creates spaces that are functional, timeless, and deeply soulful. Iris has designed for prominent figures in entertainment and sports and has completed transformative projects across the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Throughout her career she has earned numerous prestigious accolades, including Lowe’s PSI Million Dollar Producer, NKBA Outdoor Design Winner, and multiple Houzz Best of Design awards. In 2025, Iris was nominated for two distinguished honors at the 5th Annual Excellence in Business Awards by Talentos Hispanos:

• Woman in Business Award – recognizing Hispanic women leaders in small and medium-sized enterprises who are building enduring legacies through exceptional leadership, results, and community impact

• Up & Coming Business Award – celebrating businesses under five years old that demonstrate remarkable growth, financial stability, and meaningful commitment to the Hispanic community in Northeast Florida, with special recognition for Iris’s rapid expansion, deepening community presence, and the opening of her new 2,000 sq ft showroom in Green Cove Springs

Since relocating to Saint Augustine in 2017, Iris’s innovative, highly personalized approach has made her one of the region’s most sought-after designers. Passionate about individuality and authenticity, she curates artisanal, organic, and handmade pieces sourced directly from her global travels, ensuring every environment she touches tells a singular, unforgettable story.

Each year, I.Castillo Designs proudly partners with local schools to offer meaningful internship opportunities for students who show passion and aspiration in interior design and architecture. We believe in nurturing emerging talent and providing hands-on experience in sustainable luxury design, biophilic principles, and artisanal craftsmanship. Our internship program gives students the chance to work alongside our team on real projects, learn about the design process from concept to completion, and gain valuable insights into running a creative business. It's our way of investing in the future of design white building stronger connections within our community.
